Being part of a church family means connecting with God, others, and the world around us. No matter what our season of life, we all need these meaningful relationships. At East Hills, we use Connection Groups to help build this sense of community. These groups of 8-15 people meet regularly to engage with God through prayer and Bible reading, with one another through sharing meals, conversation, and activities, and with the world around us through caring for our neighbors and community. Connection Groups meet either weekly or bi-weekly in various homes. For those with young children, groups with childcare are available.

Steve and Susan Jones’ Group meets Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Jones’ house, located at 129 Merced Drive, Kelso (Lexington). Their group’s focus is building community with each other as well as reaching out and serving the community around them. They spend much time praying for one another, and also take time to discuss the subject of the message from the previous weekend. Dessert or other good food is always on hand!

Our connection group meets Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M at the Rennell’s home, located at 2370 38th Ave in Longview. Elements of our gatherings include ice breakers, sermon topic discussions & prayer in various orders and formats with light refreshments. Leon enjoys grounds & building maintenance, Habitat for Humanity, Love Inc. ministries and the like. Rene' is in her last year as a school nurse, and enjoys serving on the Welcome Team and in Kidville. Both are trying to keep up with their six grandchildren! Our group encourages one other through the highs and lows of life, serves others as directed by Holy Spirit, laughs at ourselves (a lot), and supports each other in prayer during the week.

Connection Groups

The Simmons’ Connection Group meets the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from about 12:45 p.m. until about 3:00 p.m.  Bob and Chris Simmons are both the leaders and the hosts for this group which meets at their home at 700 Canaan Court in Kelso (near Huntington Middle School).

We meet together and enjoy lunch and conversation about what has been going on in our lives over the past couple weeks.  After lunch, we talk about the sermon for that week with an emphasis on how we can apply the principles presented to our lives in the coming days and weeks.  We finish by dividing into men’s and women’s groups to share prayer requests and pray for the needs of each other and the church.

Bob and Chris Simmons began attending East Hills Alliance less than a month after they moved into the area in 1974.  At that time they were recently married and Bob had his first job as an engineer at Weyerhaeuser.  Chris was a stay at home mom as they raised three sons who are now in their 30’s, married and living in SeaTac, Federal Way and Boise.  Bob retired from Weyerhaeuser in 2008.  Bob and Chris enjoy spending time with their five grandchildren.

If your not sure what group you'd like to join, you can still click here to fill out the online form. Just select "not sure yet". Or start a conversation with Pastor Jon by emailing him at: jon@easthillsalliance.org
